Dr. Sparks' practice specializes in the treatment of all kinds of disorders of the skin, hair and nails. We see patients of all ages, ranging from infancy to senior citizens. We treat skin disorders such as teenage and adult acne, allergic rashes, eczema, ringworm and psoriasis. We also perform many kinds of in-office surgery for moles, warts, pre-cancerous growths and skin cancers. LASER & OTHER COSMETIC PROCEDURES She uses Botox for frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet. Our staff is experienced in a variety of treatments for aging skin. These include microdermabrasion and the use of "glycolic acid" or "alpha hydroxy acid" (AHA) for at-home skin care and for in-office light chemical peels. QUALIFICATIONS Born and raised in the Hikes Point area of Louisville, KY, Dr. Sparks received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1983. She completed her residency training in Dermatology in 1987 at the largest hospital in Washington, D.C., the Washington Hospital Center, and served as Chief Resident of Dermatology. Dr. Sparks’ practice was located in Louisville from 1989 to 2002. She has been performing cosmetic laser surgery in the office since 1993. Dr. Sparks added an office in Boone, NC in May 2000. In May 2002 Dr. Sparks began practicing exclusively in Boone. NORTH CAROLINA PATIENTS: For appointments and emergencies call 828-263-0067. After hours emergencies, the voicemail message will give further instructions. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call the office any time day or night to cancel so that another patient may be given your appointment time. Appointments not canceled 24 hours in advance may be subject to a no-show fee. Payments may be made by check, cash, money order, MasterCard or Visa. A $25 service charge will be added for any check returned by the bank. If you have any billing questions, please call 866-200-9874 Monday-Thursday between the hours of 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.. Procedures that are not medically necessary and are being performed for cosmetic reasons are not covered by insurance and will not be filed to your insurance company. Payment is expected for these procedures at the time of service. You will be responsible for any deductible, co-payment or balance not covered by your insurance policy. You will have 60 days from date of your first statement to remit your payment. (You will be responsible for any collection costs incurred to collect on your account.) Many "managed care" insurance policies require that the patient obtain a referral from their primary care physician prior to seeing any specialist. It is the patient's responsibility to know if his or her insurance requires a referral and to obtain it prior to the visit. Patients who wish to be seen without a referral may choose to do so and take full responsibility for charges incurred. We frequently recommend specialized skin care products for patients who may benefit from them. Many of these products are available for purchase at the check-out desk in the office.
